Year 13 Biology

The emphasis is placed on the development of intellectual and practical skills which are fundamental to an
understanding of biological science.  The prescription seeks to lay a firm foundation for those advancing to
tertiary studies in biology, as well as to satisfy the needs of those students whose formal
education will go no further.

The course develops an awareness of the role and responsibility of humans in the bio-sphere and an
application of relevant biology for informed decision making.

Topics: Genetics and Evolution, Relationships between Organisms and the Environment, Human Biology
and Cultural Evolution, and Current Issues in Biology.
